Abstract
The purpose of this study was to compare the physical demands of defenders, midfielders, and attackers across three NCAA Division III women’s soccer seasons. There were 20 players in 2021, 17 players in 2022, and 18 players in 2023 from the Carthage women’s soccer team. A total of 69 match observations were included in the analysis. For a match to be included in the analysis, a player had to play at least 45 minutes (one half) of the match. Data were grouped by season and by position.
Forwards covered 7538m , 7968m, 6782m in the 2021, 2022, and 2023 seasons, respectively. Midfielders covered 3548, 3891, and 3086m in the 2021, 2022, and 2023 seasons, respectively. Defenders covered 3989, 4131, and 3305m in the 2021, 2022, and 2023 seasons, respectively.
