Abstract

This study aims to find how much a technical suit affects swimmers during their regular competition season. Participants were separated into two groups: Group A wore a tech suit for the first meet used for data collection and not the second, while Group B wore a tech suit for the second mee used for data collection and not the first. The athletes were required to race at least one of the same races during both meets so that there could be a comparison between the two times. The goal was to see how much of an effect the tech suit had when looking at the swimmer’s race times over two weeks. Given the rigorous training and minimal recovery typical of the regular season, this study aimed to determine whether wearing a tech suit could improve performance despite fatigue. After looking at the times after the two-week collection period, we can see that swimmers experienced a drop in time while wearing a suit compared to when they were in a regular team suit. Swimmers from Group A swam faster at the second meet than the first, and swimmers in Group B swam faster at the first meet than the second. From this, we can conclude that a technical suit positively affects a swimmer’s time during the regular season, regardless of fatigue and training load.
