Abstract
The focus of this research is to examine the real estate
market of the City of Milwaukee over a 20-year period. Milwaukee is a major
American city in Wisconsin facing a range of social and economic issues including
segregation and economic development. The real estate market reflects these
issues across the city and delineates areas and neighborhoods of poor, middle
income and wealthy residents. This research examines these issues and attempts
to determine why this may be
happening. We estimate these effects using various techniques such as regression
and point polygon analyses using data sets including crime data from Milwaukee
P.D., Local Real Estate Listings Service data, ACS data, and Census data. Using
these different data sets we can measure the impact of different factors upon the real
estate market in the City of Milwaukee and draw inferences about their effect over a 20-year period as well as likely future trends in this the real estate market.
