Abstract

The purpose of this research paper is to analyze the industry that changes the lives of those living with Type 1 Diabetes. Many people have heard of diabetes and commonly think of Type 2. Type 1 however, is an autoimmune disease where the body attacks the beta cells living in the pancreas that produce insulin. This is turn causes a deficiency and the need and dependency for insulin in patients living with type 1 diabetes. This autoimmune disease cannot be forgotten about or left unmanaged for long as it causes harmful and lasting effects to the body. Many people rely on the progression of medicine as well as key products made by specific companies to survive this life. This paper focuses on the products that can be found in the industry today and how they were created for patients. It focuses on where the companies started, where they stand today and how they will continue to evolve well into the future. While there is always hope for a cure, until one is found millions of people must rely on various products to keep them alive. With finger pricks and insulin shots this industry has come a long way and is not finished yet. Expanding and growing every day, managing type 1 diabetes becomes easier with each year as the industry works alongside the people it serves to find new ways to make the type 1 lifestyle easier and more efficient.
