Abstract

This study examined the concentrations of indoor air pollution within the ceramics studio at Carthage College. Specifically, particulate matter was the criteria pollutant. Both environmental and health externalities were addressed in hopes that artists would become more aware of the studio spaces that they work in, and how their work can have a greater environmental impact than initially considered. The goal was to address particulate matter concentration levels and compare them to those set by legislation to better understand how to reduce unnecessary exposure and degradation of air quality caused by particulate matter.
