Abstract

Global education is becoming more and more key in bridging gaps between groups and increasing cultural awareness. Omnilibros.com, a site created by Carthage College education professor Marilyn Ward, acts as a resource to help teachers, professors, parents, and librarians select books that feature diverse topics, realities, cultures, and voices. This past summer, I analyzed site content starting from 2017 to 2019 and looked for things like author ethnicity and gender, illustrator ethnicity and gender, protagonist identity, visitor statistics, and original language. The goal was to create a profile of site content and look for areas of strength and areas for improvement. Additional research related tasks included researching international children’s literature award winners, writing annotations for publication on the website, and conducting email correspondence with publishing houses.
