Abstract

Throughout the years, immigration to the country has increased, and it has been difficult to formulate a health care system to adequately reach minority groups. Ethnic minority groups often suffer from health inequalities due to several factors. Among those under-represented minority groups, the Hispanic population is one that is increasing at a rapid rate. It can be difficult for the public health care to meet the needs of this minority population, which is evident in the inequality of health care access.  Due to their low socioeconomic status, limited knowledge of the available resources, and lack of cultural competency are factors affecting equal access to public health care for Hispanics.
